It's inevitable that we all dream of having the perfect bedsheets and the perfectly comfortable bed so we can get those eight, much-needed hours of beauty sleep every night. But the problem is, with so many different materials out there, how do you choose the right one that is perfect for you?
Bamboo fabric is not only incredibly soft, eco-friendly, hypoallergenic and great for sensitive skin, but they're also virtually wrinkle-resistant sheets; something many people opt for when shopping for new sheets.
The Best Wrinkle-Resistant Sheets
People like having wrinkle-free sheets, it's only natural. When they wrinkle when you sleep it can be uncomfortable and leave (unappealing) lines all over your face and skin. Plus, come time for washing them, it's much easier if they're wrinkle-resistant so you don't have to worry about ironing, and let's be honest, no one actually enjoys ironing! While you can definitely iron bamboo sheets, you can actually easily remove any wrinkles that appear with just your hand. At times, especially if your bamboo sheets are new and barely used yet, they may wrinkle more than cotton sheets, however, the wrinkles are incredibly easy to remove during the washing and drying process.
You're probably wondering if you should just opt for sheets that promote being 'wrinkle-free' instead, but we don't recommend this.
Wrinkle-Free Cotton Sheets Could Mean Chemically-Treated
The reason the sheets are not wrinkling is that the fibres are being coated with certain resins to make them stay in place. This is typically done by soaking the fabric in formaldehyde; a preserving chemical. This can leak onto your skin and clothes even after multiple washes and can cause nausea, skin irritation, and other serious issues when exposed to it long enough. Sure, the end result is nice, smooth sheets, but is it worth it?
How To Wash Your Bamboo Sheets So They're Good As New
You can rest assured knowing that when you buy bamboo sheets, you're buying all-natural, eco-friendly sheets. They are incredibly easy to wash and care for to ensure a new, wrinkle-free look every time.
Firstly, these machine washable sheets should be washed in cold water to help retain shape, colour and hypoallergenic properties. It will also take less time to wash them on the cold setting than the warm setting! Next, as soon as they're done, they should be put into the dryer. You may notice that they're a bit stiff at first, but that's completely normal. Once they come out of the dryer (on low heat and tumble-dry setting), they'll feel brand new. If you have a wrinkle-shield setting, turn that on too. They can also be air-dried outside.
Lastly, we also recommend putting your fitted sheet and flat sheet back on the bed as soon as they're dry to help keep the shape even more. If there are any wrinkles, they can be smoothed out with your hand, or, if you'd prefer, ironed (but this isn't necessary every time).
Note: Do not use fabric softener, dryer balls, dryer sheets, or bleach on bamboo fabric.
Other Benefits of Buying Bamboo Sheets
One of the top benefits people love about bamboo sheets is the fact that they're cooling and hypoallergenic sheets. This is perfect for a hot sleeper or during hot summer nights if you don't have air conditioning. Unlike cotton material, you'll feel cool and comfortable. If you do end up sweating, don't worry. Bamboo is also moisture-wicking, meaning it'll absorb any sweat and help it evaporate.
If you're an allergy sufferer, bamboo rayon sheets are some of the most hypoallergenic materials on the market compared to cotton blends or linen. This means that they are resistant to dust and other allergens, leaving you able to sleep comfortably and worry-free.
Lastly, when you purchase bamboo sheets, you're investing your money into eco-friendly materials that aren't harming the environment or your health in the entire process. You also don't have to worry about spending a lot of money on these perfect sheets. Bamboo is incredibly affordable for everyone.
We Can Help You Choose The Perfect Bamboo Sheet Set
There are many other fabrics to choose from that promote being 'wrinkle-free', however, that may not be a good thing. A bamboo sheet set is wrinkle-resistant, meaning they may still experience some wrinkling but it's very easy to make them look brand new again with the above tips.
